Bright Horizons Charters Towers is a welcoming early learning service located in the rural community of Charters Towers, just outside Townsville. Caring for up to 42 children, we provide a nurturing environment for children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age across our three thoughtfully designed rooms. Our close small team of 13 dedicated educators creates a warm and inviting environment where children and families feel a genuine sense of belonging.
At Bright Horizons Charters Towers, we believe early learning is about more than just a little bit of messy play; it is about building meaningful relationships, creating a sense of belonging and supporting every child to feel safe, valued and loved. Our educators take the time to understand each child’s personality, interests and needs, working alongside families to create positive and trusting connections. We encourage children to explore, imagine, create and discover at their own pace, supporting their confidence, independence and curiosity as they learn about themselves and the world around them.
At Bright Horizons Charters Towers, we are proud to be a service that not only nurtures children’s learning and development but also builds strong connections with the families and community we are in.
We look forward to welcoming your family and becoming part of your child’s learning journey.
Hi, my name is Shaylee Thomasson, and I’m proud to call Charters Towers home. Having lived here my whole life, I love being part of the local community and building connections with the families and people I have grown up around. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me enjoying the outdoors, spending time with my three little boys, or escaping for a weekend adventure.
I started at Bright Horizons Childcare Charters Towers when I was just 17 years old, working as a casual float educator. Since then, my passion for early childhood education has continued to grow, and I have been fortunate enough to step into the role of Service Manager in 2022.
For me, being an educator is about being comfort, celebrating the little and big achievements, and creating a safe space where children feel confident to express exactly who they are. I believe every child deserves to feel seen, heard, valued and loved, not just for what they can achieve, but for being themselves. My greatest hope is that every child who walks through our doors and leaves each day feeling a little more confident, a little more loved and most importantly, with the biggest smile on their face.
